Meet the Instructor, Tyson Scott![]() ![]()
My first trip to Mexico was in 1997 through an exchange program between the University of Northern Iowa and Tec de Monterrey, at the Colima campus. In Colima, I continued to study the Spanish language, but also enjoyed a wide variety of related classes including Mexican history, literature, and culture. My appreciation of Mexico increased as I learned more about the country and its cooking, art and music. In 2000, I returned to Tec de Monterrey as an English teacher. I taught at the Colima campus for two years, and then tranferred to the school's Manzanillo campus in 2002, where I taught two more years. In 2004, I had an opportunity to branch out and transferred to the Jan Castillo Idiomas school. At Jan's I taught Spanish as well as English, and enjoyed the dynamic atmosphere of a totally language-based school. It was while teaching at the Idiomas school that I developed the foundation for my unique teaching method. I successfully taught scores of students how to function in a second language, and honed my skills as a language instructor with Jan until she closed her doors in 2008. I have been studying Spanish for thirteen years and teaching it for four. I love the Spanish language, and Mexico in particular. I bring that love, along with a passion for teaching, to my classes.
